WWDH Utrecht | Action at STUW: Stop the Rent Increase

We are done with the annual rent increase! The maximum rent is increased every year without landlords considering whether this is necessary. This year it is up to 5.8%. That's 30 euros extra per month, which makes a huge difference for some. In these expensive times it is important that there is enough left after paying the rent for other necessary expenses!

Organizations in The Hague in action to freeze rents!

From July 1, the housing associations Haag Wonen, Staedion and Hof Wonen plan to increase rents by 5.3%, the highest rent increase in 30 years! For many people, this means an increase in charges of more than €30 per month, or €360 per year! An action coalition of SP The Hague, BPW The Hague, The Hague City Party and Wij Refuse the Rent Increase is therefore demanding a multi-year rent freeze in order to achieve structural tax relief for tenants in poverty in The Hague!

Call on your tenants' organization to oppose the upcoming rent increase! Send our standard letter

The highest rent increase in 30 years is coming in 2024, and most corporations plan to implement the maximum rent increase. This is not the case for many tenants' associations, in times of increasing insecurity. Corporations often do not respond to these concerns, and tenants' associations struggle with the landlord's position of power in rent increase negotiations. The We Refuse the Rent Increase campaign offers opportunities to put extra pressure on the landlord during these negotiations. Tenants' associations, for example, can choose not to agree to the rent increase. If the landlord does not respond, they can call on their members en masse to collectively refuse the rent increase based on our Step-by-Step Plan.
