Review & Speech Rent Down demonstration

On May 10th, we gathered with about a thousand people on the Domplein in Utrecht with one clear message: rents must go down! 💥 We thank all participants, activists, squatters, organizations and organizers for their solidarity and participation in this militant day.

We are confronted with unaffordable rents, slum landlords who put profit above housing rights, and a government that looks the other way as the housing crisis escalates. But we organize ourselves and take action. This demonstration shows that we will not be divided and that more and more people are standing up for lower rents and housing security. 🏡❤️

This is just the beginning. We hope that you have been inspired and informed during the information market to squat, rent strike, block evictions or become a member of a (trade) union. Stay involved, keep speaking out, and join one of the organizations that together form the growing housing movement. Together we build strength from the bottom up. With thanks to the speakers from Woonprotestutrecht, Wij Weigeren de Huurverhoging, Bondprecairewoonvormen, Niet te koop, Bond Amsterdamse Huurders, Riekerhaven and the squatting movement.

Speech Silvester on behalf of WWDH

Silvester spoke during the Rent Down demonstration on behalf of Wij Weigeren de Huurverhoging about organizing the action together with his fellow tenants of the Bomenlandflat in Den Bosch. They carried out several successful actions in the neighborhood and successfully refused the rent increase by organizing together against landlord Heimstaden.
